Our commitment to sustainability: the tree nurseries in Uganda
At STYLEX, we’re proud to support tree nurseries in Uganda, making a sustainable contribution to environmental protection and social development. Since 1 January 2024, we’ve been cooperating with SALEM International and SALEM Brotherhood Uganda Ltd. to finance the operating costs for seven community tree nurseries in Uganda. Our sponsorship covers employees’ salaries, tree seeds, and all running costs.
With an annual production capacity of 540,000 seedlings, the tree nurseries make an essential contribution to reforestation and ecological balance in the region.
Not only does this project promote long-term carbon reduction – it also creates urgently needed local jobs. In addition, it affords the use of innovative technologies such as the Survey App to ensure accurate documentation and monitoring of tree populations.
This allows for accurate calculation of carbon offsets to reinforce our transparency and efficiency. Sustainability is an integral part of everything we do. We remain committed to bringing about positive change and taking responsibility for our environment and society.
Reflecting our deep sense of responsibility for sustainable change, our involvement in this project represents a significant contribution to environmental and social development. This project also supports several of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):
- SDG 1: No poverty Job creation and income generation.
- SDG 4: Quality education Indirect support through income security.
- SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth Promote decent work.
- SDG 13: Climate action Carbon sequestration by afforestation.
- SDG 15: Life on land Conservation and restoration of ecosystems.
